This post on “The crisis of ministry” raised some eyebrows and elicited some advice and other expressions of concern.
In this follow-up, “Musings on ministry and membership,” I repent of some carelessness, and I attempt to respond to various suggestions and thoughts from others, clarifying and going deeper.
In this second and final follow-up, More meditations: membership, ministry, & making connections, I quote an also-struggling friend’s comment in its entirety, empathizing and expressing yet more about affiliating and working with a congregation.
In all the above, I continue to be tethered to some ideals and particulars of smaller groups.
In I can do that, a few assembly matters are dealt with, including the mention of a group of men I convened nearly 20 years ago to sing Glad’s “And Can It Be?” for a morning church assembly. Here’s a link to that recording.
